Just a heads up, the link says whatever it leads to isn't available. :>

edit Rather it says that I don't have permission to view that page, or perform that action.

Hi Glitchy, the resources must be approved first. Since I just uploaded it a few minutes ago, it has not yet been approved. Once it is approved the link should work.

Hello, what do you do to upgrade the textures? Are you using AI alogirhtms to upscale these guys?

We use an editing software called GIMP. One of the painting retextures (to be uploaded) shown somewhere else in this forum was a scan from the original concept art book that shipped with the game.

*edit - I have tried using upscaling in the past with pretty mixed results. Sometimes I will try to upscale something before editing it in GIMP, sort of like using a coloring book.

Thats pretty cool. I used the batch function of Gimp to convert the textures from dds to png. Did not quite work the best.

That is good that you have the original concept art book. But what do you do in the event that there is no original concept art?

Yeah I find that gimp is not the most reliable (dds plugin crashes) but it is the tool I know the best and its free :D

I just tried a "pure" upscale of the deathtrooper armor, since there is no helping or desire to help the horrible art assets from update 14.

So for paintings, the only concept art I used was for the painting of the small house. The rest are touched up using gimp, hand painted or retaken IG (such as the trando wanted posted).

That is pretty cool. I think that there are what 1000+ textures and normals? Best of luck to you. Can't wait for the next release!

Just want to give you a heads up. I was exploring more on AI texture upgrades didn't make too much progress but I decided to take a look again. I ended up with a community of people that had a little experience in doing it and they actually recommended me to use a piece of software to edit the textures. I am now posting this link here for you to take a look at. I don't think that I will be using the software too much but for what you are doing, it might be a really good fit. It is a program for digital painting and it has a slew of features that I believe will help you in your upgrading process

It is free and open source. Let me know if this helps:

Ah cool, thank you. I will take a look at it. It could be a better solution than GIMP lol. The GIMP plugin can be so spotty.

No problem, I have all of the textures in .tga. I haven't tried opening the dds files directly but I can provide the tga versions if needed

Working on vehicles currently, a image on the XP38 so far. The changes are subtle to stay consistent to vanilla textures but just have a higher resolution.
