Hi Everyone:

Kudos to you for your website - I love it and have such high hopes for you. I wish I could contribute but I have no idea how you do what you do. It's all voodoo to me =)

I was wondering if someone could help with direction or guidance. A friend of mine has build a marvelous device in his basement - a CNC machine! The plan is to build a replica of the 74-Z speeder bike.

The problem is the file used as the model. They managed to get a wire mesh file, but one that includes the driver. The computer running the machine is a pretty powerful one, but cannot load the file because the file they have is too large. At first they were going to build the bike with driver and remove the driver, but they cannot do that.

Today my friend gave me a call and asked if I could help. Not knowing anything about graphics I poked around the TRE files with the TRE Explorer program but I cannot find what it is they are looking for, because I dont really know what to look for. I found some SKT files and MSH files but nothing for the speeder, and nothing that I can recognize.

So I came here, hat in hand, looking for help. Would someone be able to offer some advice or direction? The hope is to build a 74-Z replica as found here. The CNC machine is able to take a wire mesh file and build a 3d object. It can use these file formats: .max .3ds .obj

Can someone tell me how or where to find the wire mesh file for the 74-Z speederbike? I assume it's in the TRE files because I have a base install with SWGEMU and can call that bike in game.

Thank you all for reading this post, and thanks for your help.

The SWG Speederbike model is a little low poly.

That will probably lead to problems for you. Its really designed with the game engine in mind.

I say stick with a detailed model and split it into parts. Do the handle bars legs and front forks separately and then glue them on later.

What scale or size of replica are you thinking about...would be awesome to have one full sized.

I'm guessing though that the build area for your friend's cnc isn't that large so probably a small scale replica.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast!

So the CNC machine has a 5 foot table and the plan is to take full advantage of that. I dont think a scale model is possible because that would require a 12 foot table. - but maybe some time down the road they will upgrade.

I'm pretty sure the software they have can scale the model from the game. Is there any way - any way at all - to get the speeder model file out of the game?

Here is Speederbike .msh
Again as mentioned before its made for a game so the model is low poly

There are 3D Studio Max Scripts to open it around the internet (Made by FatDuck If i recall correctly)

V1:

V2:

I notice nothing visual Different between the two but V2 is slightly bigger, unsure whats different.

But yea just use 3D Studio Max to convert it from MSH to whatever format you want (Find FatDucks Script somewhere)
