I guess I haven't been spoiled by much Smartphone usage to really have a preference. All I had was a first gen iPod Touch and it never got me to like iOS at all, when I look at Android, it just 'feels' similar to that, I just like the way Metro behaves. I have no doubt it's the weaker system of the three though due to a lack of popularity and way less apps. I wonder if WP8 changes that in the future. Probably won't though, as you said.

But yes it does look the sleekest by far.

I gotta play around with some Droids and the Lumia 920 in a store sometime, see how it actually handles. I just dread going to AT&T once I move lol, damn Lumia 920 exclusive.

Edit:

My God, finally I have something to rant about. A lot of stuff, even JDL or Daemontools at times faces a barrage of 'access denied' and write errors, then, if you disable UAC completely in the registry, the Metro Apps stop working, lol.

I gotta see if I can figure this out, it's freaking annoying.

Edit2: Nvm, I think I fixed most of the problems by adding the "Run as Administrator" in the specific .exe's compatibility options. I hope at least!

Well running as admin caused a lot of issues and annoyance when W7 first came on the scene so that's no big surprise. But at the end of the day I'd rather have annoying run as admin popups than something sketchy running without me realizing. ;)

Yea more of the same pretty much. :p

But some things are more limiting, couple tweaks seem to have done the trick though!

By the way, old games work just fine on Win8, installed and played Alpha Centauri without any problem whatsoever.

I is happah camper.

Now if only there was a Gmail notification app for Metro...

Edit:

Lol, as usual, right after I post I find out that there is a way to add Gmail to the notifier, nvm!

What in the world happened here, personally I'm just waiting to test Windows 8, I don't have the need with Windows 7 anyway, and I surely don't want my starting menu/button replaced with that shitty Metro tablet fudge.

I took a look at the link you posted about Start8 which restores the original start menu, but it's a shareware, QQ.

Well it's Stardock, it's not too bad.

It works pretty much flawlessly, but the search doesn't work like Win7, it works more, or exactly like the Metro search, kind of annoying.

Yeah well, I'm certain we'll have more third party tweaks to make Windows 8 worth all the trouble, after all, all the Windows got better because of the community, and this one will be no different.

I never hated Windows 8 itself, but I always hated the Metro crap, this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen, I totally understand that it will work best for tablets, but WHY would they make it the default start menu on PC's, WHY, what's the point using the Metro interface with a goddamn mouse, it was made for your fingers damnit.

I don't have a tablet, or a Windows phone, I have a PC, and the Metro interface is a real turn off for Windows 8, even though I liked the new task manager and the simplistic interface/logo, it looks clean, but if functionality isn't there then screw it. Even if it is faster like you said even compared to Windows 7, I'm still going to wait. And the drivers are starting to catch up, NVIDIA too, the only reason why I haven't tried it yet is that shitty Metro interface, which feels like an addon to be honest.

WTH (want to have) open source freeware that removes the Metro interface and puts back the old start menu, with the new logo please, and it has to be bug free too, no crashes k? And I'll take a double cheese burger and a soda with that too, and did I say it had to be free? Also, mow my lawn in circles and make it fast.

Classic Shell is open source I think, modable too in terms of icons and what not.

I mean, Start8 can be free too *cough* ifyaknowataimean! *cough*

I think you just need to try it out, give it a little bit of time, play around with it and then see if it's really as terrible as you think it is. If you still think so after, it's fine, I do get where you're coming from, but if you ignore the whole future of Windows question and just see it for what it is, it isn't really bad. It's no Vista, that's for sure. But yes, it's a Tablet OS still, regardless, yet in some sick, twisted way, it works as a main Desktop OS perfectly.

For me, even though I got Start8 running (Which never crashes btw, nor is glitchy), the Metro start screen is really better than the Start menu, or at least, a nice companion to the Desktop. There just is SO much more information you can access with one quick key tab, view all shortcuts, etc, while having the Desktop remain clean and clutter free.

Desktop looks like Windows 7:

Plus you got anything you really need in Metro (Mine is set up terribly) with one tap:
