Due to a bug that's been reported, I've decided to upload 2 different versions, because the fix for it changes one of the main fonts to a smaller one.

Basically, the bug, when using a font size larger that bold_13, you won't be able to see your faction standing in your Character screen and in the Bazaar, you won't be able to see the time left and price, in the details panel. Everything else works fine, as far I know. But because of this, I've decided to put up two versions, one with the bug, one with a smaller font (bold_14 replaces bold_13 now, so it's still larger than default).

Only size 17+ and 18+ cause problems on the old version, 16+ remains fully working.

Differences between the two versions, showing the bug:

New 'Fixed' version vs Old bugged version

I've also added the size 14+.

This was based on a request at the SWGEmu forums, thought I might as well release it here too.

Basically, the mod limits the font size, so it doesn't go below that number, but doesn't change anything above it. For instance, if you choose the size 18 mod, it would limit the fonts in the whole game to not go any smaller than that, everything above 18 remains just the same.

Preview of the current sizes: 14+, 16+, 17+, 18+

Instructions:

  • 1.) Download
2.) Open and choose one of the three sizes
3.) Extract the insides of your chosen folder to your SWGEmu directory. In the end, you should have a "ui" folder inside of your SWGEmu folder.
If you want to remove it, or try a different size, simply delete the "font" folder, inside of the "ui" folder.

I haven't adjusted anything yet to make it flow better. The only thing I did fix, was downsize bold_13 by 1 (With size 18 to 17, with size 17 to 16, with size 16 to 14), because it was being cut off by the radar.

So, this mod is still rough, but it works. I'll gladly refine it based on feedback.

Note: My parenthesis hotfix for the CU/NGE UI doesn't work with this, but if someone wants it, I'll make it compatible.

Thanks so much for this, Timbab! I know this could be a longshot, as this thread was last updated in 2013, but I have some feedback...

I'm currently using the newer 14+ mod (I'm assuming this applied to all options), and I'd like to adjust the font size of the network monitor window. I've attached a screenshot.

Ultimately, I'd like to reduce the font-size on this so it's a bit cleaner and displays all text, but I don't understand how these files work. Can you point me in the right direction?

Cheers!

RE: Larger Font Mod - new 2017 request

I see this is an old thread but it's what I'm trying to get to work so maybe someone can help. I have the ui folder and under it font. So it's c:\swgemu\ui\font\ with swgemu.exe being in c:\swgemu. Inside Font I have a list of .inc files with things like verdana_16.inc, verdana_18.inc, etc

However, nothing happens. All fonts stay exactly the same in game. It never loads them. So looking at the .inc files it looks to me like it's referencing texture\font and that location does not exist in my swgemu install. Is this something I need to add? Am I missing part of the install?

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks so much.

Hey Sytner,

Did you get it to work at all? Do your .inc files do anything? I've looked and looked and from what I see they're in the right place. Can you tell me if you have a texture\font folder?

Thanks

I've not looked at it - I was trying to entice Timbab out of the woodwork to help you but no luck so far. I will have a look at some point if no one else can help.

I've found the ui.log which says it's loading the inc files. But when the game launches they are all exactly the same. This is not the only thread I found while searching, but I thought I'd at least ask and hopefully someone will point me in the right direction. Thanks for looking at it.

Far as I can tell, this doesn't seem to change the font sizes of anything at all.
I've attached a pic to be sure I've correctly placed the files in the right folder.

You have to change the font textures. Yes, textures. All of the fonts are textures. So it's not as simple as just changing the .inc files. They're located in textures/fonts

If you take that on let me know. There have been people that have taken on the project before, but have never kept a size database of the font changes. Would be nice to say x mod changes them to this etc etc etc.

Also remember making them larger only makes them larger. It does not take into account font wrapping in windows, window sizes or anything else.

I did the 16+ added to both the game(put font folder in the UI folder already in game folder) and emu folder and restarted game.
Not sure if that might help the person that didn't see a difference.

The text in windows is so much easier to read, Thanks!

So.... for giggles I played with this a bit. It is entirely possible to make a "warping" text set up to allow for HUGE fonts in say 4k resolution. It basically requires the entire UI be ballooned 500% and all the fonts increased in size that much. It is possible by the way. After messing with it for about 2-3 hours I found a pretty cool way of getting around most of the roadblocks. However, the drawback...... You have to make 12 sets of font textures for different specific size to acomodate font wrapping.

I dont have a ui folder in the swg game directory. I even added one and put the font files in there and I still notice no difference. Could you maybe post of screenshots of how your folder structure is layed out. Its possible i have it wrong.

Is there a possibility to tinker such a mod? 4K is hard to read on 55" OLED and it looks so gooood.
