Yeah it was a test for texture changing and resolution changing, also tried to figure what extensions to use for DDS. It's unfinished, needed a lot more work done anyways :)
My biggest concern was how it will run on slower machines and how it will affect client requirements. But i guess with modern PC's it shouldn't be a problem, hopefuly it only requires more of hardware and will not kill the client.
What i really want to get done, since i have Mudbox and Zbrush is to redraw textures for armor's, to bad i am not a kick ass artist but can try and see what will come out of it. I found my mesh importer script for 3dsmax, so can also try.

For all i know i was runing with this high res textures for about a 3 months now on EMU, and even tried them today on huge event, looked still same playable, so shouldnt be any issues with it.

the textures are all client side (on your PC) there will be no impact in server side lagg due to this feature as it all comes down to your own PC's spesification, so 30 ppl close together using this upgrade wont affect your enjoyment of the game.

computers roughly double in processing power every 9 month to a year so if your strugling running SWG atm maybe you should investin a new one, this does not have to be expensive if your comfortable in bulding your own rig as you can find a nice mobo that will have a decent enough chipset on it that will handle this np.

also is this going to be open to other servers or will it be EMU only, i do doubt it as it would be to easy just to copy the textures over into another DIR but thought i would just ask.


keep up the good work its looking good, btw i like the foliage texture but i must admit i would like to see some other colours on dant, dont get me wrong i like the purple but it would be nice just to pass through some other colours from time to time, at the end of the day beggers cant be choosers :)

This project is being handled by SWGEmu client developers, so its release will be an exclusive for the SWGEmu community. By this I mean once the project is completed it will probably only be available for download through launchpad enhanced. If someone wants to steal the patch after that for use with ANH or anything else then fair enough, as long as it is acquired through our service, however we dont support other communities hosting the patch file as a download on their own site at this time.

Dantooine still isn't finished as of yet and the screenshots shown are very outdated. Those shots are also all based in the grass plains which is why it is all purple, mountain and a few other areas do feature extra flora and colours, although purple is the main feel of the planet. There are also now crystals scattered around the planet along with the retextured trees and glowie particles.

things are defently looking great..for the dant grass have you tried giving the lower part of the stems a green touch? sort of as the grass grows it starts greenish and as it matures it gets it final color.. might give it a nice touch..

in any case, excellent work

The cave textures have annoyed me for so long, they always looked like you were in a tunnel of .... So that is great for me and they actually look good, along with the fact the critters also look fitting to the scene.

Really promising work on dantooine, although the blue glow makes it look alot more modern as a whole for me it connotes the newer movies and something akin to fallutia...

Anyway, interesting that you have made this an exclusive project, shame really, I'm guessing you gave up on your other project?

Wow, those cave textures look amazing, can't wait to see this mod in its finished form!

One question though, will all textures be replaced? It would look kind of odd to have epic environment textures while all your clothing/weapons still have original textures.

The majority of my past work will be merged into this. The project exclusive simply because I'm working with the SWGEmu client developers now.

No, not all texture will be replaced. Pretty much all planetary textures will be replaced, along with cities and other architecture. I have also done some work on the textures for various races. There will be other textures updated rather than just world based textures, but I will not be retexturing every item in the game. Clothing/weapons and other items don't really look out of place at the moment.

Easy enough to rip the patch, upload it to mediafire.com, make a new post giving credit etc and then explaining how to patch/update it or make a program which does it if it is exclusive when its released.

How high of resolution are these textures going to be? I'm kind of hoping for 4096*4096 but most would say that's a stretch. Also, are you going to be adding in new UI color schemes?

New color schemes are already in the package yes. The resolutions will vary but will rarely exceed 1024x1024 as its pretty much overkill at that point.
