- Overview -

Project Perfection was originally started as a simple retexture mod focusing mainly on terrain and environments. Those following the project will know I ran out of time to support it and eventually dropped it. However since then I have picked it back up, and an awful lot has expanded in terms of what the mod will provide.

Originally the plan was a simple full scale environment retexture, with the goal to redesign some of the planets in the process. Since then I have added quite a few extra features which I had no intention of getting involved with to begin with.

- Features -

• High Resolution Terrain Textures
• New Environment Textures / FX
• High Resolution Weather Effects
• Revised Flora & Planet Objects
• Improved Planet Lighting
• Revised Particle Effects
• New Loading Screens
• New Ambient Sounds

- System Specifications -

It is impossible to predict the system specifications required to run this mod due to things changing as development progresses. As a result the specifications will not be stated until the mod is complete.

- Looking to help? -

If you have any skills you think may help, fire me up a PM. The more people who help out the faster this thing is released! :)

That looks great, can't wait for this!

While I'm sure you know what you're doing, remember that Dantooine is also green (although I dig the lavender only look).

Part if this project includes the "reimagining" of the existing planets in SWG. In this case we plan on giving Dantooine, Rori, Dathomir, Talus, Lok and Yavin complete redesigns, many of which wont strictly follow the classic Star Wars lore. We will however be adding very small elements to planets such as Lok to give them a more specific feel rather than being a small Tatooine clone with slight flora variations. These small elements will tie in with the classic lore, some of which will even add to the lore, with help from our brand new loading screens.

I hate the old Dantooine look myself. And you're done a great job. But can you make an example by changing color on the grass like it is in KoToR ?

Before I started Dantooine I asked a few friends if they'd prefer the kotor or swg look, I was torn personally but the majority said they'd prefer it to follow the SWG look so thats what I've gone with.

so is this going to be released in stages? or all at once? for example releasing one planet at a time?

It wont be released as a standard mod. Currently the plans are to release it all at once, options to activate the patch will be directly available through LPE, which may include choices of which features you want installed. At the moment all I can say for sure is it will be available through LPE when it is all complete.

A downloadable closed beta will be available here at MTG eventually as well.

Looks real cool, only problem is... When you change to much textures and resolution on them it can and will have impact on performance, when one person is around and doing nothing, it's one thing, but when you will have 30 people running around shooting and stuff it will be different. Main point of all this is question, will it be playable? As of right now you won't even see all the great definition unless you turn up all up to max, and set AA and AS to max in drivers setup, which has dramatic impact on performance of game. Also on my experience even changing only city textures like coronet, has great impact on loading and game stabbing for some time before it stabilizes. Just might come out that the engine was not designed to be used with such high resolution stuff and it might become unplayable.

If you don't like it, don't use it.
I hope they push the game as far as they can to be honest. I want SWG to really look stunning, and will upgrade if needed.

I am sorry but, if you dont understand what someone is talking about there is no reason to answer. Don't like what? I like it, who said i don't, i am just concerned with part of game performance, after changes of every art aspect of game, to 4x more resolution.
Upgrade wont help you if game engine will not be able to handle customization, and if you don't understand what is game engine, then i am wasting time.

Well these guys seem to think it will work. The fact that they have this website, have some very talented people involved, and have released screenshots should tell you this. So why are you even asking??

Obvious troll is obvious...

Not going to withheld pointless conversations about nothing, as question is pretty obvious but i'll rephrase it. And again if you don't understand the point of question don't troll. Thank you.

My concern is simple, did anyone do perfomance tests with replaced art? And how much it affects system requirements? The point of this question is, because i am customizing art for SWG myself, but with a lot of things IRL i didn't have time to replace as much things as you guys did. So information about impact on perfomance would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.

No need for agrivation towards each other people.

If you read all the information I've posted I made it as clear as possible that at this time I have no idea how much more juice your client will need to run this patch. I also gave an estimate that the client will likely use double the power when everything is done, but wandering what I consider to be almost a fully completed Dantooine I'm beginning to think it will be less.

It is true that the more players around the more people will experience slowdown. The answer to this question is simple... Don't enable this patch. It will be a choice in the launchpad, one which will contain warnings about needing certain specifications.

In regards to whether or not the game can handle it, I see no reason why not. Leaked screenshots of SWG very early on in development suggests the engine is capable of far more.

The fact is the game is seven years old now, and needs a facelift. The second fact is computers have advanced a hell of a lot since then so almost all the SWG community should be able to run this patch on at least medium settings.

My PC is pretty outdated now and the only slowdown I've had so far whilst testing is when I used rediculous settings on Uli's Settings Overrider. That being said if you boost your frames to 60 the game should look great. If you lag it'l be a matter of the number of players, its a fact that entering cnet you're going to have the odd spike no matter what the textures are like.
