Especially with the tool release eminent, perhaps we should make a thread organizing which planets are out there, who is working on them, and link to the last known status...  kind of a shopping list for server admins looking for them...

Also a way for those of us interested in making some to keep track of what's out there already.  The planet building resources are scarce right now, spread around.

I think that it would also be a good idea for someone to compile all of the current ingame shader/texture assets used by terrain up until the end of the game (whatever patch tres those are) for all of the planets ever implemented by SOE, enabled or not. This can be done already but would save a lot of time/effort if it was already a pre-compiled thing in a tre/zip archive for easy referencing. Alternatively, maybe just a list for each shader family could be compiled with shader names, instead of actual files if they do exist pre-cu, and include the tres of the assets if it's a post-CU thing (assuming we're working on a PTAT0014 here.)

This way, people can reuse various assets (for example, a certain grass texture from naboo with a rock spire from taanab), in addition to making their own for a planet in development.

Maybe we at MtG could have an additional download section for pre-compiled user-submitted assets for terrain/planet generation. Example a tre or zip archive containing all files needed to implement say, a radial flora group.

yep, that would be nice. I have about six different sets of tres, covering almost everything out there... it gets to be a problem trying to integrate post CU stuff... which is why so far I remain entirely within the pre CU assets... and at least there is a lot in there

OMG Everything has to be perfect, probably looking at release tonight or tomorrow.

There's a certain point at which I have to stop myself, or I will always find something to improve upon.

Late to the party - but want to contribute -

editing the post ... (I made progress and spilled beer in the process )

Love the work you are doing MR T and others here, it is inspiring me to move ahead and do more.
