Been meaning to do something like this for over a year now, finally got around to it. Over the months I've started collecting .TOC files from different eras and updates, along with help from others, Vidi and ilikenwf especially, which lead me to create a fairly broad picture of what's inside 'hidden' v6 archives.

Background as to why we normally can't see what's inside v6 archives; before patch 18, every .TRE file had their own Table of Contents, or TOC, inside of it, meaning, these didn't rely on any other file and could simply be opened and read on their own. When patch 18 came along though, SOE decided to centralize the TOC, in order to only read the latest version of each file inside the archives, which was fine for SOE, but bad for anyone wanting complete access to files past patch 17.

I've also put up a link containing 'missing' .TRE files, which the average user might not have. To see the list of these, look at the specific Install section in this thread.

Updates
[2016/01/04] Updated all files to be compatible with SIE 3.5.

[2015/05/26] Updated a lot of the current .TOCs, updated and added Beta 4 to the SIE cfg key, added missing .TRE files, and added the following to the TOC History:
  • hotfix_29_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_29_shared_00.toc
  • hotfix_sku1_29_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_42_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_42_shared_00.toc
  • hotfix_sku1_42_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_56_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_56_shared_00.toc
  • dev_current_59_client_00.toc
  • dev_current_59_shared_00.toc
  • dev_current_sku1_59_client_00.toc
[2015/03/02] Added the following to the TOC History:
  • hotfix_sku1_57_client_00.toc

How to use/Install
TOC History
Up front, I've changed the upload from a .7z to loose files. If you still want to download it as a compressed archive, right click on Toc History on the left hand side and right click > Download as ZIP, like shown in this picture:

Using these is fairly straight forward, if you use anything other than Sytner's Iff Editor (Which you shouldn't, download and use it already!), put the .TOC files inside of the directory that contains your .TRE files.

If you do use Sytner's Iff Editor, create a '!tocs' folder in the SWG directory that you use with SIE, put the new .TOC files from the MEGA link into it and then edit this line in Sytners Iff Editor.exe.config that is located in the SIE directory:
Code:
<add key="tocs" value="sku0_client.toc:00,sku1_client.toc:01,sku2_client.toc:02,sku3_client.toc:03" />
to
http://pastebin.com/0kSgnJEM

You can always turn the TOC loading on or off (true/false) with:
<add key="useTOC" value="true" />
In case you want to suppress warnings about missing .TRE files at load, you can change the following key to true:
<add key="suppressWarningsOnMissingTrees" value="false"/>

Missing .TRE Files
Put these simply in with the other .TRE files in your SWG directory that you're using.

Current list of files:
  • dev_current_52_client_00.tre
  • dev_current_52_shared_00.tre
  • hotfix_24_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_24_shared_00.tre
  • hotfix_26_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_26_shared_00.tre
  • hotfix_32_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_32_shared_00.tre

  • hotfix_55_shared_00.tre

Added the following to the TOC History:
  • hotfix_sku1_57_client_00.toc
But I'm missing the the .TRE for it sadly. Also changed the TOC History upload from a .7z to being openly in the folder, so one doesn't have to redownload the enitre archive every time.

RE: TOC History - .TOC files for every v6 .TRE Archive

Forgot I had updated the 'tocs' key for SIE, added it to the OP! Should contain everything that's 'available' right now.

http://pastebin.com/MzcDL1z9

You'll likely get a prompt that looks something along the lines of:

Just ignore it and press 'Yes'.

RE: TOC History - .TOC files for every v6 .TRE Archive

sorry to be an annoyance with all my questions recently.. so i tried to put all the TOC's in a folder on my desktop called !tocs and had SIE in a seperate folder and NGE and CU .tre's in seperate folders (all on the desktop), i edited the necessary lines per the guide and the path line to reflect <add key="swgPath" c:\desktop\!tocs , i get the missing .toc / .tre window on launch i hit yes but i still can't see anything when i try to open publish_18 and above using SIE.. is there something I'm missing?

You should really just do it like:

SWG <- contains ALL .tre files
SWG/!tocs <- contains the custom tocs

Then point SIE to SWG. Of course, you can name it whatever you want, but yeah, that's how I set it up and intended it to be.

RE: TOC History - .TOC files for every v6 .TRE Archive

First, thanks go out to cAble for supplying a set of Update 57 .TOC's that I haven't had.

[2015/05/26] Updated a lot of the current .TOCs, updated and added Beta 4 to the SIE cfg key, added missing .TRE files, and added the following to the TOC History:
  • hotfix_29_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_29_shared_00.toc
  • hotfix_sku1_29_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_42_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_42_shared_00.toc
  • hotfix_sku1_42_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_56_client_00.toc
  • hotfix_56_shared_00.toc
  • dev_current_59_client_00.toc
  • dev_current_59_shared_00.toc
  • dev_current_sku1_59_client_00.toc
Also, currently, the following will show up as Era "Custom" in SIE, I still need to add them in:
  • hotfix_29_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_29_shared_00.tre
  • hotfix_sku1_29_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_45_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_56_client_00.tre
  • hotfix_56_shared_00.tre
  • dev_current_59_client_00.tre
P.S. Some might cause problems, because we don't have the specific correct hotfix .TRE file. If you encounter any problems, please let me know! The hotfix_45 is definitely broken I believe, at the moment, sadly.

P.P.S. Forgot to mention previous to this post, Sytner added in a suppress key into the config, enabling you to suppress the warning about missing .TRE files at load.

In case you want to suppress these warnings about missing .TRE files at load, you can change the following key to true:
<add key="suppressWarningsOnMissingTrees" value="false"/>

Updated all files to be compatible with SIE 3.5.

If you're currently using or used the toc history in the past and now have SIE 3.5, please redownload the entire batch!

I apologize for the noob question, but I am just not figuring it out....

How do I add the TOC files into the SIE so that I can look at the NGE stuff?

I can't seem to find the config file to add and or change the vlaues.

Yeah my bad, the OP is severely outdated for the current version of SIE.

Will try to update it later today.
