I'd really enjoy someone shortening up the pleated skirt into a miniskirt. It's been so long since I got into the nuts and bolts of modding that i've forgotten WAY more than I ever really knew. *wink*

so... when diving in again, instead of trying to learn it all again from scratch, I'm just gonna post a request and see if anyone bites. Client side mod is fine, although I wouldn't mind adding it to the server as a craftable item if it's well built. :)

Anyway, 1 mini-skirt please!

Welcome back Duff! Long time no see.

I see you're back with a vengeance... or at least... a craving of a kind. :p

Yeah, Kind of. I doubt I ever get back into modding like I used to. I'm older and a bit tired of interrupting game play to chase a mod idea for weeks at a go. I've been trying to make a mini-skirt or at least a shorter skirt for years, but I don't think the textures can be made to be truly transparent. the model (or mesh etc... ) will need to be changed.

My only tool to use for 3d modeling is Lightwave3d, or blender, but I suck at modeling in blender. I can texture in it ok, but modeling seems beyond my short term capabilities. I'd get and use max if I could, but it's a bit too pricey for just modding games.

*shrug* figured I'd ask and see what happened. :)

You can make meshes transparent with an alpha shader, which I've done before to remove the body of Darth Vader in order to just use his cape. The downside is, that I can't seem to beat at the moment, is the fact that it appears to reverse the normals, so that they're inside out. If that could be solved, you could theoretically cut away things with alphas.

Done. I used the mgn / msh importers with blender and worked it all out. Was a bugger for a while but I finally worked it out. :)

If I may ask, is that a custom mesh, or just an alpha texture? If it is a custom mesh, which blender plugins did you use?

I couldn't figure out how to make an alpha texture work or I would have. It's just re-arranging the vertex's in an existing mesh. I used blender to do it, I found the plugins here some time ago, but they don't appear to be here anymore, those posts & links come back as "Oop!..." no page found. *shrug* they don't export everything you need anyway, like blends (morph targets), and some other data.
