I know for some of you this might sound odd if my worst fears are true, but where'd ILM go? I know Legends hasnt had it for awhile but I'm looking for the standalone and I cant find a single copy anywhere.

If you're referring to the "ILM Mod," there's never been a copy on ModTheGalaxy, and many of the older mods from live have been lost, unfortunately.

The ILM mod doesn't have many fans around here, which may attribute to it's lack of presence and backup. As far as I know, despite what it claimed to do, all it really did was replace textures. There have been plenty of mods that go above and beyond what 'ILM' claimed to do, though I understand some people, possibly such as yourself, have nostalgia for the particular look and aesthetic 'ILM' provided.

While I personally detest the mod, I don't like pieces of our modding history to be lost to time. If anyone has a link to the mod or an old repository of it, feel free to post it to resources, or send it to me and I'll give it a proper resource entry.

Thank you for responding. I'll keep looking. By the way, what other mods were you talking about that replaced textures? I know that that was what ILM did but I've never heard of any other mods that do that so I thought I was just stuck with reshade lmao.

Generally, the only sweeping texture mods I know of are either for one planet at a time, or performing a full AI upscale on the existing textures of the game. There's no one singular mod to do the same replacement extent as ILM did.

ILM is generally disliked because it replaced textures with no regard to keeping the same visual quality of the game. They often were the wrong texel density, which could cause sparkling or stretching. Major retextures, as I said before, are often left to AI upscaling, which has very mixed results. Often, the textures get oversharpened to the point of hideousness.

Revamping the game's art is a great challenge. It's easy to make the game worse. I'm under the philosophy that the textures, even in their low quality state, are fine so long as the lighting, shaders, and models don't muck it up.

For now, with ReShade, you're probably going to get better results visually than ILM could provide, but that is my personal opinion. ILM was ambitious, but it was akin to taking a sledgehammer to pound a nail in the wall for a painting.

If I remember right, it was more than just a visual mod. I think it swaps in higher quality audio samples and replaces a few with the correct sounds from the film (engines, blasters, ship cannons, etc.)

I might have a copy of the mod on an one of the hard drives from my old PC. I'll take a look later.

I have some of the TRE files...in addition to textures, there are new sounds for background music, blaster and droid sounds, UI clicks, as well as new loading screens. I don't mind ILM for the occasional change of scenery.
