Yo dawg, I heard you like virtual machines, so we put a virtual machine inside your virtual machine so you can be virtually running a machine in your virtual machine.Dragonite said:Any guides out there on how to setup the VM using Zonama?
I'm confused, never have done this before.. and I can't access the SWGEMU forums since I'm banned for spamming accounts, 5 years ago.
Also, any guides on how to set a server up on a VPS. I don't want to host this on my PC virtually.
You don't need to drag/drop the .TRE files. You use the interface to point to the location they're housed:Scanlon21 said:Ok, I am getting a little bit frustrated. I have tried enabling drag & drop from host to guest, rebooting the vm as well as the machine, not getting anywhere as far as getting the TRE files moved over. Can someone please assist in some fashion? Tips? Tricks? Something that can give me an AH HA!! moment? Running oracle virtualbox version 5.0.16 r105871. Set up connection as NAT.
Thanks Draychen - I had specified in the shared folders in the VM a folder on my desktop. But when you start up the repository vm, it automatically goes to getstaredfresh. Which wants me to copy the TRE files to the server. With ZonomaDev it isn't an issue, but it seems that for Lasko's repository, you have to copy the TREs to the VM. I'll try confiscating one of the wife's thumbdrives, but I am kind of an old school drag and drop kinda guy. I did it once before but I'll be a womp rat if I can remember how I did it..draychen said:You don't need to drag/drop the .TRE files. example:
G:\
or
G:\StarWarsGalaxies\SWGEmu
try to make the path as detailed as possible, as it only seems to 'skim' the folder while searching... it doesn't seem to deep scan. If my .TRE files were in G:\SWG2\StarWarsGalaxies\SWGEmu and I told it to search G:\, it wont find them. Hope this helps!
Ah, apologies. I thought you were meaning from the fresh... I have no idea what to do with the MTG stuff. If you can figure it out, I'd love to know how ya did it! Also, even with the drag/drop enabled on mine, it doesn't work either. I had to enable clipboard across clients, create files one by one, and paste the text into them.Scanlon21 said:Thanks Draychen - I had specified in the shared folders in the VM a folder on my desktop. So I was able use ZonomaDev, and when i get some time I will try and put some steps etc together. But for now here's what you need to do:thedarkone said:We definitely need some one to do a proper guide to this building the server using the mtg files etc using ZonomaDev
i have managed to use lasko's vm with vm player and the drag and drop does work for me windows 7 but when building it does fail i think this is due to merge needing c++11 compiler idk lol
"mtg your my only hope"
As I read through the list of stuff that didn't work, I'm positive the NS hut, Yoda Hut, and (I think it was a wookiee tree house) all didn't have structure management controls. You can, however use slash commands with the structures targeted and it'll work. As with the listed melee weapons: I can confirm that quite a few listed, I recall, didn't work as well.Pake said:Here's a list of the broken items.

TBH I have no idea what you mean by the extension pack, I'm still very noob.draychen said:As I read through the list of stuff that didn't work, I'm positive the NS hut, Yoda Hut, and (I think it was a wookiee tree house) all didn't have structure management controls. Also, thank you so kindly for your above post with the information on starting the server. I'm bashing my head against it right now: I've added VBox guest additions and Oracle Virtual box extensions pack 5... but continuously get a error when trying to mount my thumb drive. If you could provide me with the extension pack version you used, or how to mount past the errors, I'd be much appreciated. Thanks again!
Thanks so much! Unfortunately the usb still wont mount. The reason I added the extensions etc prior was: I kept getting a error trying to mount things on a Win 10 host to the Oracle VM. In order to fix that, I had to download Oracle Entensions dist. 5 from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. To mount that;Pake said:TBH I have no idea what you mean by the extension pack, I'm still very noob.draychen said:As I read through the list of stuff that didn't work, I'm positive the NS hut, Yoda Hut, and (I think it was a wookiee tree house) all didn't have structure management controls. Basically I followed all the instructions in https://github.com/lordkator/ZonamaDev
I'm using Oracle VM Virtual Box 5.0.2 I think. So to mount:
1. Open Oracle VM Virtual Box
2. Select the server in the box on the right
3. Select the settings (gear icon) on the top
4. select "USB"
5. Tick off the "Enable USB controler box
6. Select the radial USB 1.1 (OHCI) controler [note: the others would not work for me]. Also, I don't believe I clicked the add or anything, simply just selected it
Then start your sever's VM and wait for it to fully boot up. After the VM loads:
1. insert your USB stick into your computer
2. at the very, very top left select "devices" and in the drop-down select "USB"
3. your memory stick should appear in a sub table to the right. Tick off the space beside (in front) of it to enable it
One thought: I also went into Devices -> shared clip board and ticked off "Bidirectional" and Devices -> Drag and Drop and ticked off "Bidirectional". Perhaps this is required?
Anyway, if you know how I can get my extension pack version post here and I'll take a look for it.
EDIT: Was able to confirm that I'm using version 5.0.20
Hmmm, that is absolutely brilliant! I'll try (7zip might be the problem though. I think there's a Linux version). Yes, absolutely brilliant, my friend!Pake said:I just had a thought: what if you hosted your .tre files on something like MEGAsync then downloaded them with the Chrome that's on the VM?

any chance if you have done the parts with the object.lua etc and the folders needed any chance you could upload them all to say mega in one file so we only have to drop them into the server
Had that same thought, however the VM will not open Mega.draychen said:Hmmm, that is absolutely brilliant! I'll try (7zip might be the problem though. I think there's a Linux version). Odd.
