I was told I should come here to ask if a thing is possible. I asked the admin of the server I play on if it was possible to change the players flashlight/torch to be more effective and show light on all sides of the player model itself.
He led me here because thats not an area he is knowledgeable in.
Iv been here before to brows your mod archives (thank you btw guys, nice stuff here) and to learn what I can do client side for myself (again thank you, iv already learned a lot from your work and guides)

So pretty simple question. just can it be done? Has it been done?
I thought to myself, with all the ppl in the world, I wonder how many were like me dissapointed with the players light.
not to mention Iv got a better light than that thing and it runs on AAs not microfusion power packs or whatever they would be using in the SWGalaxy.

P.s.
anyone have a link to information about .sat files and how I make them? I get the impression its not something that can be modified with a basic text program? I only met failure when I tried to figure out what I saw people doing in their client side mods. It seems simple, but i am missing something critical.

Hey Duncan!

Sadly I haven't been able to figure out how to change the flashlight or much of the lighting/glow/fog. First I assumed it would be in the shader files (.sht and or .psh/.vsh) but never found it.

I assume it's hardcoded into the client, so it'll be some while until, if anyone, will find it. Once I restart my quest to dominating the client, I'll take another look for it, but don't count on anything, sadly.

But yeah, the flashlight lighting is awful.

Also, to edit SAT files (and any SWG file) your best bet is TRE Explorer :)

You will need to be at least knowledgeable in the basics of HEX editing to modify more than the most simple things though (shouldn't be necessary for SAT's)

Thank you for your answers. Good luck as well, I hope you dominate the client.
