What It Does
Forces the game to load only the highest resolution 3d model.

Why Use It
1. Makes the game look better
2. Improves game object loading performance
3. 3D modders dont have to make multiple copies of their models

How to Install
Extract the folder into your swgemu directory

Whats In It
This mod is made up of modified LOD, LMG, and SKT files.

Pretty sure

Code:
[ClientSkeletalAnimation]
	lodManagerEnable=0

Or another config line does the same job.....

I've looked through the config and I haven't found anything that completely disables the LOD manager. For the option above, thats based on the character level of detail slider in the game, goes from 0 to 2. 0 is the worst option and 2 best but it still flips through different MGN models. I've tried setting it to 3, but that does nothing. So I just went through and edited all the LODs.

This works great, and it must do something that that disabling LOD doesn't do.

I wish this could be done with terrain. Watching terrain keep shifting textures, and meshes gives me a headache after awhile. I don't mean objects on the terrain, just the terrain itself. Low res mountains in the distance looks horrible, and it's distracting.

You can improve this my using the SWG Settings Overrider Tool, but it will kill the game's performance very quickly. In version 1.5 of the tool,

Set Terrain High Detail Range
Set World Detail Bias
Set Veiwing Distance

Have a look in the options page in game and hover your mouse over the far right end (maxed out end) of the sliders to find the max value the slider lets you choose. Then set the value in the over-ride tool to something higher than the max.

Note that the client has an unfixable bug that causes the terrain detail and world viewing distance to reset on the next boot of the client when you open that settings page without moving them.

All this info is detailed in other threads here and in the modding section of the SWGemu forum.

To install this, do I completely overwrite the "appearance" folder or merge it? If I completely overwrite it, I'll lose folders called "lat" and "ash" and 6 .sat files.

I would like to install this along with "HQ Eyes" and "Species Revamp" mods following the install instructions found here - http://www.modthegalaxy.com/forums/thread-mod-swg-hq-eyes and would like to make sure I am installing this right so that all 3 mods work with each other.

Thanks.

just installed this mod, and the Lod checkbox is still force-checked. any update on how to get this to work?

Doesn't matter, LOD should be disabled. Its not designed to change the check at all.

Its set to hardcode all the files to use the most high quality model it can.

yeah but it wasnt doing that. even after installing the mod, I was still seeing polygon models. Wound up that I was missing the LOD checkbox in the actual launcher settings. It's fine now.

If you replace all the .LOD's with the ones from the OP, there shouldn't be any lesser models to draw from...

Checkboxes are irrelevant, the main manager is still there, but the .lod's just don't link at anything but the highest quality model anymore.

Did you install it into the correct directory?

When I install this mod, clothing items in my inventory flicker and most mobs appear invisible or naked until I'm right on top of them?

If I move the Mesh folder out of Appearance folder it, leaving the lod and skeleton folders, it fixes the problem

Actually no it doesn't improve fps, because it simply only uses the highest lod mesh, but I highly doubt it'll have a negative impact on modern machines.

to my experience old game like this dosent care about your high end rig hehe like the flora in swg that eats up cpu fast if u have it at 128 for an example

I put this mod in however alot of NPCs are invisible except for their weapon until i get closer than 20 meters. Did i do something wrong?

Is this still relevant? I extracted all the files into my directory, but i didn't see any changes. Also, there was no prior "appearance" folder to overwrite.
