thank you for the importer, im having a little trouble with a model though, when i apply the texture the texture looks as if it is stretched out, is there anyway to fix this? either in max or an update to the importer?

RE: [Tool] 3DS Max Import/Export Scripts

I've been sitting on a new version for months that fixes a number of bugs, simplifies a few things, and a new calculation for normal that improves lighting. So I have finally uploaded it because you reminded me to.

So I kind of need a bit more info on what you are working on before I have a clue of what might be the issue.

1) Is it a new model, edited model, or existing model?
2) Is it a new texture, edited texture, or old texture?
3) Is the issue in 3ds max or only in game?

sorry for the late reply, it is a model from the game itself, it is called corellian_corvette_2005e3_r66_bridge66_mesh_r66.msh i extracted it and the textures from the tre files, i can upload the model and some of its textures if you want me too, but there have been a few other models that have done the same, this screenshot is from 3d object converter but it is the exact same problem

EDIT i just downloaded the updated version you uploaded above and now it works perfectly! thanks!

Extract the file again. That is what I had to do after I noticed all my star destroyer files were actually empty. Once I did that, the file imported just fine.

Ah, found the issue. In patch 5 the star destroyer was put into the game. In patch 11 the model was removed from the game by making all the files 0 kB. So if you want the files with actual data, go to patch 5.

strange i just checked that and both files have the same number but different names the one i could not open is thm_spc_star_destroyer_s01_r45_reactorctrl_mesh_r45 and the one from patch 5 was thm_spc_star_destroyer_s01_r45_cooling_mesh_r45 dont know if they were at some point the same or not but either way it works now though that one was the only one that didnt work but thanks anyway and thanks for the awesome importer!

RE: [Tool] 3DS Max Import/Export Scripts

There seems to be an issue with the importer script and measurement units.

The script seemingly ignores the system units setting and just straight imports the mesh without scaling it to the chosen system unit.

I imported the cloning facility mesh with 1 unit = 1 meter, then I imported a character model that is around 5-6 feet tall converted over to meters.

The result was that the character was effectively a titan in comparison to the cloning facility (being the metric equivalent of 6 feet tall) while the cloning facility was considerably smaller than the character.

I tracked down the issue. The file in question uses a 28bpv, something I didn't know existed. So I will have to figure out what all 28 bits mean first before I can do anything about it.

Download

Try this out. I haven't tested it in game but it seems to import and export correctly.

You can import new models with this too, anything model related really.

Works only for .msh though, .mgn is still off limits.

I am sorry for the resurrection post....

I am having issues with getting the textures with the models. Dos anyone still have documentation or a place to look on how to pull .msh from the TRE with the textures?
