Greetings inhabitants of the galaxy! The CUEmu team would like to welcome you to our official website. We're continuing development and hope to have some updates for you soon. You can follow us at the website link above, which takes you to the main front portal page, where other various social media links are available, if desired.
We are a team consisting of SWG emulation developers coming together from all across the galaxy. We do this for one reason - as SWGEmu brought the fans Pre-CU, we bring the fans the closest currently available Postt-CU, Pre-NGE experience. We were originally established as another team, CUGalaxies, in 2012, and reformed under CUEmu in 2014. We believe the time is now to publically present our work we have developed since then, gradually, but dilligently. We have been working largely behind closed doors - the reason being, the Code Project open-source license allows us to, as long as our TC is not available to the public. Yes - we are forked from SWGEmu's Core3/Engine3 architecture, but we have made so many drastic changes, in the name of a vanilla end of CU game.
Times change. We are sending out a signal through the Force to all players, Pre-CU, CU, NGE, and SWGEmu. If you enjoyed the Combat Upgrade experience SOE brought to you, that you had to adapt to after the CU released in Publish 15 of April 2005, then please help us, you are our Only Hopes. We do not wish to recreate the SOE experience promised to the players by SOE, and the conflicts, but something more, something meaningful. What started as a pipedream in 2013 for wistful SWGEmu players to forge their own path of the Combat Upgrade, has come full circle.
But don't take my word for it, see for yourself.
Currently, our TC is only open to all staff members, and Alpha Squad. This is done due to the AGPL v3.0 license type that governs SWGEmu's Core3 codebase. You can read more about it here.
Essentially, if our service rendered by the code we host (aka a TC for our server), is not publically available to everyone, then we do not have to make the code we host open-source. That being said, we are in the works currently to make both fully available - open-source code, and a TC anyone can register to join without being vetted into the Alpha Squad. Anyone may apply to join the Alpha Squad team, but we will review all applications collectively as a team, and we may revoke your access at anytime. You can read more about how to join AS and what the team does at the Applications link above.
We are also actively looking for Developers, and Web Service team members as well, and as such also have corresponding applications on the same page.
This is a video made some months ago by one of our developers, Valkyra, testing out her new Combat PvE rework to be accurate to CU live.
