I'm starting with Linux and I'm seriously lost, I'm trying to set up a server and executing the command ''cd ~/workspace/Core3/MMOCoreORB/bin
./core3'' I get the following result

darthbane@darthbane-console:~/workspace/Core3/MMOCoreORB/bin$ cd ~/workspace/Core3/MMOCoreORB/bin
./core3

darthbane@darthbane-console:~/workspace/Core3/MMOCoreORB/bin$

the previous steps went well without error messages so I don't understand what he wants, I can see that there is a problem with the .tre but what to do?.. thank you for your feedback

and did not hesitate to give me advice on ubuntu because I am at zero level of understanding linux^^.

sorry for my rough American I am French and language level is not my strong point^

good game and force the dark side to be at your feet
peace is a lie

I would like to specify where this code comes from, the other sources are not good for me, I do not even place the Core3/MMOCoreORB cd command
make -j$(nproc) without error.

Those files are from SWGEmu. So why are you posting on a different forum? :rolleyes:

* Pay attention to ERROR - File does not exist.

Your system cannot find your TRE files, probably due to a bad setup in uour config.lua file or even those files don't even exist.
Check your TRE directory.

Btw, you need at least a basic understanding of Linux and programming, even if it's not Lua or C++. It's essential to learn logic.

Regards.

thank you for the quick response.

in fact I need more knowledge about Linux, I am trying to understand how it works which is by far very different from Windows and much more complex...

I came to post here because at least someone responds in a language that I understand, elsewhere I have the impression that they guys speak in Chinese^^

I used this core because it is the only one where I can go to the point of being able to clone the core3 with the command cd Core3/MMOCoreORB
make -j$(nproc)

but I think the problem comes from the step before

Clone core3 repository somewhere (~/workspace)

mkdir -p ~/workspace
cd ~/workspace
git clone https://review.swgemu.com/Core3

I stupidly launched the command without modifying it, but I think that it must be a generic and that this is where I must indicate in the command line where my .tre is found

which I installed under /personal file/bank/swg/game install for the client and ~/swg/core3-unstable for the server.

I'm not ready to have a running server^^lol

It was much simpler before with zomana/dev and its virtualBox image file which was easy to use under Windows.

I'm going to continue looking for how to properly configure a SWG emulation even if it's a little beyond my control, it must be said.

thank you anyway and have a good day

I tried to do what is indicated via the link you provided me 'https://github.com/swgemu/Core3' I block at the .Build Core3 step
cd Core3/MMOCoreORB
make -j$(nproc)

I have installed clang-18 but it detects clang-14. I tried the different commands indicated on the internet but nothing works. im on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS

root@darthbane-console:~/workspace/Core3/MMOCoreORB# cd Core3/MMOCoreORB
make -j$(nproc)
-bash: cd: Core3/MMOCoreORB: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce nom
mkdir -p build/unix
cd build/unix && cmake -DBUILD_IDL=ON -DRUN_GIT=ON -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS="" ../.. && make

how complex is linux when you think about it, guys who master linux perfectly must have an extremely high intelligence quotient which is not my case^^

it's evening in Paris 7:36pm I wish you a good evening

update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/c++ c++ /usr/bin/clang++-18 100

update-alternatives --config c++

Choose clang-18 and try again. You can try g++ aswell: apt install build-essential
Then this last step again but choosing g++.

it's evening in Spain 20:39 and raining hard. Good evening. :)

hello same error with your fixes applied,
the program thinks it's using clang 14 even though I'm sure I have 18 to install
darthbane@darthbane-console:~$ clang-18 --version
Ubuntu clang version 18.1.8 (++20240731024944+3b5b5c1ec4a3-1~exp1~20240731145000.144)
Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /usr/bin
darthbane@darthbane-console:~$

ho you live in spain, are you spanish or an expatriate for work?

Personally I live south of the Paris region. Have a good day

update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/c++ c++ /usr/bin/clang++-18 100
update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/cc cc /usr/bin/clang-18 100

for C and C++.

update-alternatives --config c++
update-alternatives --config cc

You said "I don't have all the necessary basic software".

And you'll need to fix this issue aswell.
