I have been struggling with trying to change the bolt color on the Proton Carbine. I am wanting to change it to the appearance of the red bolt like many of the ranged weapons are. I have tried renaming the red bolt .prt file to the proton carbine bolt .prt file, but all it does is take the regular blue colored bolt and make it narrow, still retaining the blue color.
I have managed to swap out other weapon's bolts/muzzles using this method, but for some reason the proton carbine is made up differently.???
I believe I am missing the overall concept of swapping out weapon effects. I have tried using several of the already-made mods here for reference, but I can't seem to understand the process. I've tried working with creating a new .cef for the bolt, adding a new reference to the weapon datatable, and referencing the weapon effect on the object .iff but nothing happens.
Is there anybody that could help me with this and how to understand this process better?
