So far nothing has been said against it. Many of us have already done this in tests. As far as adding these items properly goes, it need server side work done as well as client side. If you just want to change a piece of armor like composite to one of the newer NGE sets as a mod, simply renaming the files like you would normally should suffice as long as you include all the files which make up the armor set, eg mesh files ect.

haha, alright, thanks! I'll just release a basic mod for it then, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't against any rules. :)

Some of the NGE item types have their data structured slightly different then what the Pre-CU files are like. We know that weapons and various other models Trials of Obi-Wan and above use this new structure, I dont know what this is patch number wise, but I know armor and clothing is still structured the same way regardless of how new it is. Many of the other less tampered with file formats like terrain are also structured differently.

If you get client crashes trying to add something from the NGE its likely because you're either missing some of the files it relies on, or it uses this new structure.

The difference in structure is 1 byte, its a simple fix, but i'll post a "Tip" in guides section on what it needs changed shortly just to clarify for future members.

I guess that would be pointless to change the model on client side as everyone will see default one anyway. But making new armor set and making it use NGE models is a good stuff. I know you can easily add anything of NPC armor, or usual armors, call them something different and make them drop or craftable. But i never tried the NGE stuff which is post p14. Is it possible to make it work on EMU, server + client side, such as new armor drop/craft? For all i know it will need to be added to Server table, also client table. Need some guide on it defenety, which format of files, how they called and what needs to be updated server side. Will check it out when i get some time.

Yes it is possible. Some items require more client tweaks than others however.

To answer the second aspect of your question yes there would need server-side work to make it craft-able or drop and it would likely need added to the client datatable (this is a hell of a lot easier just using the latest NGE datatable).

Adding new armor and clothing from Post P14 to SWGEmu is about the easiest thing to do of all the possibilities relating to NGE client files. Other things such as weapons, vehicles, housing ect get more and more difficult.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on housing lol. I've never even attempted it myself, probably because housing was never really highlight for me, but the only one I know who's had any success with it is Uli. :p

And something tells me he wont spill it. :p

Houses are very possible, it's just that the way POB files work changed between Pre-CU and current live NGE :)

Haha no worries, I'll try and dig out the files I was experimenting with because I can't remember what needs changing off the top of my head... I did manage to get the bunker, hangar, at-at and barge houses to correctly spawn on a server running SWGEmu though, went inside all except barge and didn't go past the entry hall of the bunker (as both required elevator access and I don't think warping into cells was working properly at the time) so I know it's possible :)
