Sorry been meaning to reply to this, but been out of town/busy.

1. During Pre-cu , there were  'vet reward'  spinning holograms.  (The 'Imperial Guard' hologram was the first, iirc) Couldn't  those types of  code/shaders/schems be  somehow  modded onto player-models?
Can you give me more information on this? I can't find it. Anything I found regarding holograms was only done in CU, earliest being patch 15.

That said, as I mentioned in an earlier post, it can be sort of replicated out of the box in vanilla without too much work.

2. I heard a rumor that the SWG 'source code' was released onto the interwebs.  I haven't personally seen it myself , so again plz excuse the question-out-of-ignorance but: Wouldn't the  files  for  'blue glowy' effect be present there since Obi-Wan in Mustafar  was originally the CU era ?  And if so, can't those be  reverse-engineered  into a working mod?
It could probably RE'd and applied, but depending how vast the thing itself is, there'd need to be client modification done (The .exe itself) for it all to work. Source code or not being out, is irrelevant, as it's not PreCU. Also, please, no source code discussion here or anything to do with it, including NGE servers (I don't mean you specifically, but everyone reading this).

3. There exists already (currently)  a  'state' in our code  called  'GLOWINGJEDI' .  But there doesn't seem to be any  art/graphics  hooked up to it anymore (possibly cuz SOE  disabled/removed it  once  Pub9  jedi revamp got released) .  Has anyone  attempted to get this  'state'  functioning  in-game yet?  (i think Sytner did , briefly ,  and also TA said he tried  for a sec   but that was like 10 years ago) .
I forced the state via injection a while back and it's basically a dummy state, no visual anything is associated with, the icon of the buff/effect is a placeholder, etc.

P.S. Good to see you on here, Nee. :)

Glad to be here!

And here is the info you requested...

http://www.swgemu.com/archive/scrapbookv51/data/20071216101851/

... As you can see, the "15 month" rewards =  Imp hologram  (SWG was released  June/July 2003 , therefore 15 months +  should  be  Pre-cu era ) .

Anything else you need, let me know.  This 'blue glowy' effect , as well as  the recent HOTH planet stuff , is extremely important to me (as well as  our  Post-1.0 development) .

********* p.s. I just realized that the "15 months" refers to SUBSCRIPTION date lol , not SWG's release date. ugh my bad, just shows you how i was wishful thinking this too much. /bonks-self-in-the-head

So as far as I can tell, the Cu Pa toy and the Imperial Guard (Along with other holo rewards) were added in patch 20. As far as I'm aware, the base of the holograms also didn't exist before the CU, either. I might be wrong, but I looked multiple times now for this kind of stuff over the past few weeks and never found any evidence for it.

That said, the 'blue glowy' effect is definitely possible in PreCU, it's just a matter of, what do you want to use it for, which determines if it needs client (.exe) expansions or can be done via the files, using existing .EFT effects or having to modify/make new ones, etc.

Now, just to make a comparison in terms of what might not be as straightforward necessarily to get into PreCU, is something like 'heat' effects or perfectly recreating the lava effect on PreCU, then again, it might be, depending how it was used internally in the NGE and how much you'd need to expand the PreCU client on.

And yeah, planets, Hoth, whatever, totally doable via SWB in the future, so don't worry about the possibility to create planets. All that kind of stuff is covered, or will be covered.

P.S. Just saw your P.S., yeah, they musta added that reward later on in the CU, like, I def don't see it in the files, which is a shame, but as I said, that by itself can be replicated/ported without too much issues, look on page 1, I basically faux turned an existing furniture piece into a hologram.

That is awesome! Any chance for a step by step easy to follow guide? I'd love to learn how to manipulate the files to do such things.

Think I'm going to have to take some time off work and spend a week or so really focusing on some of this stuff.
