ships and their interiors

hey everyone does anyone know why when i load a ship into 3ds max and then load the interior for that ship that the interior sticks out of the ship? i will take a screenshot and add it later

It could be 2 things.

1. The game adjust scales of the model via files.

2. (Most likely this is the reason), interiors are rendered in there own space. So you could have an interior with a door but no exterior rendered anywhere in the game but you won't be able to see the interior at all unless you went through the door since its in its own space, therefore clipping interior with exterior is non existent when in game. TARDIS Effect.

2 could be it, the game engine could also have something that hides parts of the interior or something when say you are in the yt-1300 and sit in the pilots seat and are able to see out the window or go third person

Windows are handled like a permanently open door which allows vision in/out of it.
