Sytner's Satellite Maps 2.0 (preview release)

This is awesome, I can't believe the detail.

What was your process for (capture?) I don't think you painstakingly recreated each map by hand did you?

It's a feature of the world builder - it switches to an orthographic projection and renders the map in 1024x1024 tiles (1 meter to 1 pixel). It then stitches them all together to form a single 16k x 16k image of which a 4k x 4k downscaled version is in the in-game map release.

Hey Sytner, loved your old mod! This one looks amazing and I'm very excited to use it. I'm currently playing on SWGLegends, Omega server but don't see an obvious analog to the swgemu_live.CFG file. Theres a live.cfg with similar content, but I think this is an original game file.

It may require a change made on the server admins' ends, I'm not sure. Any guidance would be most wonderful!

Thanks but I'm afraid we can't offer support here for illegal servers like Legends.

Okay I understand. If we were to gain legal status, would this mod's compatibility be something the admins would have to orchestrate, or would it be done client side? (Not to preclude the possibility to both)

It's just a client side thing - the setup is likely trivial but again we really don't endorse or assist with servers using stolen source code here on principle.

If I made an epic game like SWG and some one else locked it away from everyone to enjoy, I'd want someone to steal. But to each his own. Thank you for the info.

The possible opinions of individual ex-SWG developers are besides the point. I'm not sure Disney would take the same view :P.

Indeed!  Though concern of legal recourse is another matter from principle... unless of course its on principle of  legal recourse!  :D

For some reason I cannot get the map to work. I'm playing on Reckoning. I have the file in my main SWG directory and I updated the live.cfg file.

Maps are not updated in game =/

Any suggestions?

The priority of the entry in live.cfg may be wrong or something like that.

You can always extract the .tre directly to your swg folder if you continue to have issues.

Tried changing priority but I noticed that every time I try editing the file it reverts to its previous state.

Ah, sounds like you're using some kind of launcher that forces a certain configuration then.

In that case, you can grab the alternative download here and just extract it to your SWG folder (or don't use that launcher of course).
