Now if only there was a way to make dynamic lights have more effect, like for example influence the rendering of dynamic shadows.

Dynamic lights are modifiable quite easily, shadows' transparence too, but not their glitchy shape.
SOE made changes a while ago on the shadows, I remember telling Uli about it so he took a look into the client and told me it was a mess.

Last time I checked, the supposedly new shadows in the live game haven't changed a bit, just a few fixes on buildings here and there but they're still buggy. (Shadows appearing/disappearing depending on how your camera is placed, squares on characters, long lines, and of course the big FPS drop because of the lack of optimization in the first place etc.)

How hard would it be to add dynamic lights to things like the fire effects of a damaged speeder, terminals, crafting stations and possibly even to the underside of the shuttleport and spaceport shuttles?

I have to say... some of these images made my jaw drop. Still a bit sore from it smacking my desk. ;)

I can say, I'll definitely be willing to test this one for ya. :) Best of luck juggling this work with that thing they call "real life".

I skipped from page 1 to here, has there been any new images. Those 4 images are amazing. I just started playing again on the swgemu server. Have a guild of about 120 going, and its starting to be great again. With graphics like this it would just add the cherry on top.

Not looking good guys. Lots going on on RL and frankly I'm losing interest in the project.

In addition, the way I've done it means as soon as a community make changes to terrain after 1.0 it'll crash the game. There isn't really a way around that as it would drastically reduce the visuals of the mod.

As I'm now working directly towards the release of SunCrusher I will likely find an opertunity to embed some of the more abstract elements of project perfection such as new skies etc into a suncrusher patch.

Don't worry though, the plans for SunCrusher are far more exciting than this primitive mod. ;)

That's a shame. A shortsighted statement, but I was really looking forward to this.

Hope to see more exciting things from you though. :)

That's the part which saddens me.

As for the terrain crashing, it doesn't have to be this way if PP were to become a somewhat smaller project and would only take care of textures, if would be a good start and give people something new.

Terrain editing/creation will be needed for new planets/areas, but it isn't needed for older planets at the moment, besides Sytner's tool will make it much easier, editing it all by hand is a pain.

Are their any sub-components of PP that are complete and can be released? Like for example loading screens and UI?

There isn't any new UI for PP, it's only terrain based work.
Plus extra loading screens, Berry released the Leia one only I think.

Aww damn it all to hell. If only there was a species of headcrab that could force him to be interested and finish it. On second thought, the forced-interest might be a bad idea...

I will release some loading screens that were included once I've tracked them down.

As I said other areas of the mod I will break down and add as graphical improvements to the client through the SunCrusher patcher, so don't think of this as the end.

@ Kay

I would dumb it down to just a texture mod but I'm too much of a perfectionist to settle for just that, as the title of the mod suggests. ;)

Communities will no doubt make some changes to the original terrains as SOE do in virtually every patch, which is why I'm not going to continue. That and my official work is a hell of a lot more exciting for everyone than this. :p

But also as you said, the world editor will make things easier to do this kind of work so I promise you all that once a few new planets have been added I'll make it my personal imperative to go back and improve the graphics of the original planets. With the world editor I can guarantee you'll get 100x better than what PP would have been. You wont get a massive range of improved textures because we'd like to keep the size down, but definitely some of the poor textures will be significantly upgraded. I'll also add some completely new environmental aspects, particles and improvements to the weather effects.

Project Perfection is in the previews section, so it technically never even made it to an alpha stage, or at least not one I'd be happy to release. What I'm saying is think of this as a brief preview of what can be done, and take my guarantee that graphic upgrades to come with SunCrusher will be worth the wait. Project Perfection was intended to be distributed through the new launchpad anyway, so nothing has really changed other than a slight tweak to my focus, meaning graphics wont be as focused upon but you'll with that sacrifice you gain some new planets.

I'm working on some tests with flora right now (new flora) for Ryloth. I have to say if I can pull off what I'm thinking then its going to look incredible.

How far is the new launchpad from being complete?

And also, concerning poor textures, will those improve upon objects and scenery too? Kinda sick of low-quality weapon and item textures. I saw it in KOTOR I & II as-well, and I really hated it.

I doubt you'll ever see improvements to existing object textures, except for buildings perhaps.

However, the textures for new objects should be better than the old ones.

No ETA on the new launchpad, it isn't a priority right now.

Hello tonberry. I've seen you around on the SWGEmu forums and saw your link to this website and this post (I'm the unnofficial Future content Dignitary :p). Would just like to show my appreciation for what you guys are doing here. Looking forward to this.

I'm going to separate some time to release some mods in the next couple of weeks. They wont be anything huge but as soon as I come up with an interesting idea I do want to get a few mods released, if anything just to get more people posting. Modsource is modding a dead game and they get more releases than we do lol...

As for planets/content/LPE2 - Top secret stuffz... Nah we just want a lot of these things to be a surprise. I can't help myself dropping the occasional hint or speculation but we definitely wont be revealing anything big until the SunCrusher site is launched. I have no idea when that'll be but hopefully in the next few months. I was working on it but a few more pressing concerns came up so its been pushed back a bit.
